Hardwood Lumber
Unlike softwood trees which have needles instead of leaves and tend to grow year round, hardwood trees are deciduous, meaning they become dormant in winter after their leaves fall.
With the exception of limited use in some timber-frame construction, hardwood lumber is used in the building industry for applications where the wood is visible such as flooring, cabinetry and stain-grade doors casements, mouldings and other trim work.
