Considerations When Working With an Architect

Make sure to obtain a contract prior the start of the project that specifies what your architect will deliver. How many rounds of revisions can you make to plans? What is the process for authorizing changes to your home? How often will the architect visit the site during construction? What are the total fees for his involvement? Relevant deliverable dates and expectations should be clearly defined in your contract. Finally, make sure to have it reviewed by a lawyer or someone familiar with contract negotiation prior to signing.
