Wood products used for the framing and sheathing of floors, walls and roofs are ideal green building materials for several reasons. First, the products are all created from a renewable, sustainable resource. The wood industry has also increasingly risen to the challenge of creating products that reduce waste, while improving strength and durability. The OSB used in sheathing, flooring and engineered wood products reduces waste, increases dimensional stability and is light, thus reducing energy during transport. Wood is also a natural insulator, making the use of additional insulation unnecessary on the outside of exterior walls to reduce inductive energy transfer.
